Although he has lived and worked in Canada for almost 30 years, Ruedi Beglinger is European at heart. He grew up skiing there, he trained as a guide there, and he maintains close connections in the European ski-touring industry. He is well known to other guides and, when there, he is considered a local.
Ruedi's unique version of dual ski-citizenship offers North American skiers the opportunity for a very special European ski vacation. He has a local's knowledge and connections, but combines that with a deep understanding of what North Americans would like to see, experience, and learn. SME's European trips go beyond being just a ski trip that happens to be in the Alps. Ruedi orchestrates a complete cultural event that includes great service, fine food, the most comfortable and interesting lodgings available. He also works to give his guests a real sense of what mountain life there is like.

We offer a number of different trips to Europe each year. They include the world's best-known ski traverse – the Haute Route from Zermatt to Chamonix. There is a reason this spectacular journey is on the "must-do" list of every serious ski-mountaineer. We also tour in the Monte Rosa area each year, an area with 29 peaks over 4,000 metres. It's not only the roof of the Swiss Alps; it's the pinnacle of European ski mountaineering.
Our third spring trip alternates each year. We will choose between such classic regions as Berner-Oberland in Switzerland, the Cevedale-Ortier, the Oetztal Alps in Austria, or the Bernina in Northern Italy, Each offers extraordinary possibilities. All are led by Ruedi Beglinger, a guide who calls both the mountains of North America and Europe his home.
